In the name of The father
Today we saw a movie called "In The Name of The Father", made by Jim Sheridan in 1994. It's about a man from Belfast, called Gerry Conlon. He, and three of his friends are forced to take the blame for an IRA bombing in London. And his father and aunt are also blamed in this terrible case. And after a while we get to see how he and his father fight for justice, while they're spending time in prison. Gerry spends 15 years in prison before the case is taken up in the court again, and during those 15 years, his father dies. When Gerry finally became a free man, he said that he wouldn't stop fighting before the people who put him, his father and his friends, in jail, were arrested. He said he would fight in the name of his father, which is the title on the movie.
I've seen this movie before, but I didn't mind seeing it againg, because I think it tells a very important and a good story. Even though it sometimes wasn't always that interesting. But as I said, I think this story is very important, and I belive that everyone that sees this movie are thinkink about how it really was in the years before our time.

Poetry Project
Me and Ole Petter chose the poetry "What is success?".
And I really got to say that I loved this way of working with poetry. Usually when I read a poem I just read it and don't think so much about it any more. But this time I had to work on the poem and understand it on my own way. Poems is so much more then just some words on a piece of paper. There's a meaning with every word, and poems is wonderful if we just use some time to understand them. Poems are songs without music.
Even though the presentation didn't go exactly as we wanted because of the music, I'm satisfied. I feel like our message reached the audience.

Task 2
What do you think is the main reason why Enoch’s parents decide to part?
Because they are both fed up with each other, and they can’t live together anymore. None of them cares for the other and they hardly talk.
What strategies do they have for the actual parting?
They decide to leave, without the other one knowing it. Both mother and father leaves and plans to send a letter to explain why they leave. But none of the parents get the other ones letter because they both left at the same day.
What are their feelings when they finally act on their decisions?
They are both sick and tired of their life, and want to start another life without their current family.
Why do you think Jack has a “dull toothache of a conscience”?
I think he might be a bit insecure in his decision. He definitely feels bad for leaving Enoch. But he tries to comfort himself with the thought that his mother will take good care of him.
Why do you think Edna turns the clock to the wall?
That, I don’t really know. But I am going to say what I think so I believe that she turns the clock on the wall to get a new start, or she turn the clock to the direction she’s going.
How do you think Enoch will feel when he gets home?
I believe he feels a bit alone. But he takes good care of himself, and he is kind of happy and he feels like an adult when he sleeps at the couch.
Task 3
Use the words below to describe how Enoch feels:
At first Enoch is excited and happy to be home alone and can to exactly what he wants. He doesn’t care so much if his parents are ever coming home. He enjoys himself when he is alone. But when the night comes he feels kind of lonely and anxious. His feelings change from excited and happy to lonely and anxious when the night comes.
What do you think he’ll do the next morning?
Well, I have read the story now. So I’m going to say what he did the next morning instead: Enoch goes to his grandmother in Netherfield.
What impression do you have of Edna and Jack as parents?
I think they have failed as parents. No one is ever, going to leave their kid behind.
What impression do you have of Enoch’s grandmother?
She seems like a good person. I got the impression that she’s going to take care of Enoch and that’s a good thing. She’s a real grandmother.
What impression do you have of Enoch himself?
It’s sad that he ones in this story wants his parents to be dead. But he totally regrets this and that’s good. He seems like a good boy, and wants to brag about the fact that he has been alone in his house for a whole night and that might give him some status at school.

Typically British
Task 7)
I think national stereotyping is possible and I don’t think it’s harmful. It’s not like everyone are like the stereotyping tells. But maybe the average and the tradition in the country are like the stereotype. The stereotype that says that Norwegian is born with ski on their legs isn’t true for everybody, but for most of the Norwegian true the times and for those who lives now. I think people misunderstand a little bit and think that everyone is put under the same stall. But that’s not true. I think that there’s a little bit of humour in it, and I don’t think that people should be so hidebound about it.

USA in the 1930, The Great Depression
The Great Depression in the U.S began on what we now call "Black Tuesday" with the Wall Street crash late in November 1929 and from there, it got spread world wide. The market crashed in the beginning of a decade of high unemplyment, low profits, lost opportuities for personal advancement and more. But still, most of the reasons for The Great Depression is still uknown. But the basic cause was a sudden loss of confidence in the economic future. The depression caused major political changes.
The economy eventually recovered from its low point of the winter of 1932-1933, to an improvement in 1937.
